And be prepared for cemetery pictures. Lots of them. There's one right across from my house, and it's the most photogenic thing available to me. So here we go, days 7 and 8.<br />
<br />
Day 7- an old pumpkin somebody left outside. The pretty side, not the rotting side.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TSjLbyRbcAI/AAAAAAAAAOE/4G8-LDxQI58/s1600/IMG_1350.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TSjLbyRbcAI/AAAAAAAAAOE/4G8-LDxQI58/s400/IMG_1350.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Day 8- Peeking at the gravestones from behind a tree.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TSjLfZ2RiXI/AAAAAAAAAOI/Ii3wWuU0RfI/s1600/IMG_1369.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TSjLfZ2RiXI/AAAAAAAAAOI/Ii3wWuU0RfI/s400/IMG_1369.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>sheara121http://www.blogger.com/profile/17105781386701180503noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-472633863769105603.post-65480740869293891592011-01-06T23:04:00.000-05:002011-01-06T23:04:40.858-05:00365 Project- Day 5-6Blogger was not being cooperative yesterday, so my post from yesterday is being posted today, along with Day 6. So...<br />
<br />
Day 5. My holiday star candle holder thingy that hangs out on my front porch. With this one, I was playing around with focus.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TSaP8OSZ84I/AAAAAAAAAN8/Q4QZ6xIsKqY/s1600/IMG_1265.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TSaP8OSZ84I/AAAAAAAAAN8/Q4QZ6xIsKqY/s400/IMG_1265.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Day 6. Taking advantage of having the holiday shrub up, I snapped some more photos of some favorite ornaments. The owl is a particular favorite.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Thus my desire to do a 365 photography project, in hopes of forcing myself to take creative time each day and, hopefully, increase my (very) amateur camera skills. Here goes, Day 1!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TR_JOBKatSI/AAAAAAAAANs/kz4hmQPdEvI/s1600/IMG_0987.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TR_JOBKatSI/AAAAAAAAANs/kz4hmQPdEvI/s400/IMG_0987.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Two things: 1- hubby seems to have messed up the date thingy on the camera (unnoticed until photos were downloaded). This is 1-1-11, not 1-2. Said date thingy will likely be removed in future photos, as I find it distracting. 2- this was taken from a sitting position, while kiddo was banging his head on my chest in attempt to keep himself awake (he failed). So it isn't by any means what I would call a "good" picture. Yet of all the photos I've taken today, this one calls to me. The bright colors against the pale backdrop and the blur as if the butterflies really are flying. So, for what it's worth, Photo 1.sheara121http://www.blogger.com/profile/17105781386701180503noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-472633863769105603.post-40430285151781454732010-11-23T20:12:00.000-05:002010-11-23T20:12:55.211-05:00A Quick Post<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">To all those who still take the time to read my rather neglected blog... thank you. I am trying to update myself on all of your blogs by simply going down the list, trying to get to one or two a day. Nobody has been forgotten, and I'm finding more wonderful blogs to attempt to keep up with every day. So if you haven't heard from me in a while, be patient, I'll get to you soon!</div><br />
And because every post needs pictures and I'm too frazzled to think of a Tuesday's Treasure, instead I leave you with some of my current Anthropologie favorites. <br />
<br />
First, some fun wall letters! They're supposedly for a child's room, but they could go anywhere (well, in my house they could).<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOxiZ4ke5mI/AAAAAAAAANU/ajWl0pZhfh8/s1600/974402_000_m1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOxiZ4ke5mI/AAAAAAAAANU/ajWl0pZhfh8/s640/974402_000_m1.jpg" width="426" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?subCategoryId=HOME-KIDS-TOYS&id=974402&catId=HOME-KIDS&pushId=HOME-KIDS&popId=HOME&sortProperties=&navCount=280&navAction=top&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=000&isSubcategory=true&isProduct=true&isBigImage=&templateType=">(source)</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>This next is a beautiful, flowing blouse that would fit nicely into my closet.<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</div>sheara121http://www.blogger.com/profile/17105781386701180503noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-472633863769105603.post-56927545601849778272010-11-22T13:00:00.000-05:002010-11-22T13:00:00.553-05:00An Awesome FindYesterday afternoon was spent in my favorite antique store with Kiddo and my wonderful mother-in-law. We browsed for hours, delighting over the always unique finds that neither of us could afford. One of the booths keeps second hand pieces of fashion (and i use this term lightly), although many items still have their original tags attached and are essentially brand new. And it was here that I found the most amazing article of clothing that I've seen in a long time...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOqrpRleDbI/AAAAAAAAANI/A9o-jCdP-eU/s1600/IMG_0835.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOqrpRleDbI/AAAAAAAAANI/A9o-jCdP-eU/s640/IMG_0835.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">a lime green, swede cloak. With fringe, no less. It's perfect. It screamed my name. And it happily hangs on my door, waiting for our first outing together. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOqrtYepKII/AAAAAAAAANM/t6ZaTFmoZdg/s1600/IMG_0836.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOqrtYepKII/AAAAAAAAANM/t6ZaTFmoZdg/s640/IMG_0836.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>Now, I'm not a cowgirl, so I typically avoid fringe at all cost, but this was too good to pass up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOqrv2FWlVI/AAAAAAAAANQ/z9dqIwZzxUg/s1600/IMG_0839.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOqrv2FWlVI/AAAAAAAAANQ/z9dqIwZzxUg/s640/IMG_0839.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
The color of this photo is off, but I love the detailing of the clasps. Simple and elegant.<br />
<br />

I bundled him into the Moby-wrap and headed out, where my first sight was...<br />

I'm sorta confused on this one.</div><br />
Continuing on...<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My wind-blown fence</td></tr>
</tbody></table> For these next two, it's the same view but the pictures were taken with two different camera settings. The first one seems to be a more realistic representation of the actual colors, but I prefer the richer color of the second, which was taken with a flash. Which do you prefer?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhr2zhJ_7I/AAAAAAAAAMU/3gYB4sRXzMo/s1600/IMG_0798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhr2zhJ_7I/AAAAAAAAAMU/3gYB4sRXzMo/s640/IMG_0798.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />

<br />
With the following, I played with focus.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhr9uu-pUI/AAAAAAAAAMc/UHJWPbQeO3Y/s1600/IMG_0801.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhr9uu-pUI/AAAAAAAAAMc/UHJWPbQeO3Y/s640/IMG_0801.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhsAUuzmgI/AAAAAAAAAMg/KEkr5H6x6s4/s1600/IMG_0803.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhsAUuzmgI/AAAAAAAAAMg/KEkr5H6x6s4/s640/IMG_0803.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
This one was an unexpected view I saw in the camera window, but it really drew me in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhsMPnTfUI/AAAAAAAAAMs/be6QmEAvHdI/s1600/IMG_0819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhsMPnTfUI/AAAAAAAAAMs/be6QmEAvHdI/s640/IMG_0819.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">A rose. It took me many, many tries to get good focus on this one, first because Kiddo was shifting around in his Moby (for the record, baby-wearing and photographing don't mix very well), and second because every time I'd get a clear image in the camera window, the breeze would pick up just enough to sway the flower. But I'm quite pleased with this one.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhsOn1NpoI/AAAAAAAAAMw/_K-qEcL-m6k/s1600/IMG_0823.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xJnZ6SRbEi8/TOhsOn1NpoI/AAAAAAAAAMw/_K-qEcL-m6k/s640/IMG_0823.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
This organization is an amazing community of those willing to help provide opportunities to girls in developing nations, that they might rise above the vicious cycle of poverty, poor health, and even violence that so many face. Thirty-eight percent of these girls are married off before the age of 18, and medical complications due to pregnancy are their leading cause of death. By giving a little to help fund their education, they can earn at least 10-20% more income from a single extra year in primary school, or 15-25% more income from an additional year in secondary school. Watch the video below to see how such a small gift can make such a large impact.<br />

Giving without demanding,<br />

<br />
These three verses from the Tao Te Ching speak of the nature of our connection to these girls who live currently limited lives, and why it is to our benefit to assist them in any way possible. Without harmony in the world, we all suffer, no matter what our circumstances.<br />

Kiddo is always making me laugh with his exploration of the world, which is currently focused on new vocalizations (he's talking to hubby as I type) and his feet. And my wonderful husband is my strength, who gives me the courage to face the world even when I'd rather not, and takes care of me when I get overwhelmed. Both of them make me a better person than I could possibly be otherwise. What's your treasure this week?<br />

I'm not typically a fan of Polaroid photos, but figured I'd take a look and see what people came up with. Surprisingly, there were quite a few that struck my fancy, from portraits (my favorite type of still art) to florals (always beautiful) to the wildly whimsical. Which is your favorite, and why?<br />

His name is Bill, he is amazing at drawing comics, and is thinking about making caricatures as a part-time, at-home job. He's done a lot of them for friends on FaceBook (which are awesome, btw) and is offering his services to the public. <a href="http://cartoonboy76.deviantart.com/">Here</a> are some examples of his work. Below is one of my favorites; Bill's take on villains. Bill also has some examples of his caricatures on <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120643547213&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT#ht_500wt_1145">eBay</a>. On the off chance that you, or somebody you know, would be interested in giving such a gift, please contact myself via email (link on right side of the page) or Bill via one of his webpages. If not, then simply enjoy the villains!<br />

This week I chose a lovely little gift from my mother-in-law, three sachets. What's your treasure this week?<br />

I decided to try one of my own, using the basic supplies that were laying around: scrap-booking paper from the <a href="http://crafts-sewing.hsn.com/paper-stack-premium-printed-12-x-12-cardstock-once-upon-a-time-glitter_p-3387987_xp.aspx">Once Upon A Time</a> stack, a button, paper glue, and crafting Goop (to hold the button on). Amanda sewed hers together, but this was easier for me. Given my haste (Kiddo was starting to fuss) and lack of scissor skills, my flower turned out rather whimsical (as I prefer to call it). What do you think?<br />

Adrian is 13 weeks old, and the delight of my life. Unfortunately, now that the pregnancy hormones are out of my system, my migraines are back with a vengeance, which really puts a dampener on things. And, as well, Kiddo has taken the room which used to be my creative space, so now my creativity is even more limited by time, money, and space than it was before. So please bear with me since my blog isn't as professional and creatively focused as was originally intended. I leave you with, of course, a few pics of my darling himself. Love to you all!<br />

He's almost two weeks old now, and already I've forgotten what life was like before he was around. Exhaustion is now my constant companion, thus my lack of posts recently. Here are a few pictures, though, to satisfy my need to show off my little darling!<br />

This is largely due to pregnancy complications, hospital visits, and forced bed rest, none of which are terribly conducive to creativity of any sort. So considering all options, most of which end in ill-health, my midwife has decided that medical induction of labor is necessary, to take place tomorrow morning. We had hoped to go all natural and skip drugs of any sort, but no such luck. But I'd far rather have drugs and a healthy son than be stubborn and possibly harm him. <br />
<br />
So Adrian will be my Treasure this Tuesday, and no doubt many, many pictures will be posted in the near future. <br />
<br />
I'll leave you with one of my favorite "before" pictures.<br />
